My approach to therapy

Whilst Self Help is where many people start, it doesn’t address what subtley stops us from change in the longer term. In other words we tend to heal ourselves with the help of others. My approach is to work with you in close collaboration. This means trust, openness, and also careful to attention to what you bring to a session but also what might be being left out. This approach is integrative of both humanistic, cognitive and psychodynamic principles.
Short term goal orientated work may be between 6 and 12 sessions with a focus on what you see as your issue or problem. Longer term work may look at what has brought you into therapy now, which may be a number of unresolved issues. These can often be from the past. A tendency to repeat patterns may be frustrating us. Also we may have aspects of ourselves that are hidden to our own view.

About me

Always passionate about the world of Psychology and Psychotherapy , I bring quite an eclectic blend of experiences to my profession.

As well as 15 years post qualification experience, I remain an active league cricketer in London having played for over 30 years, as an opening batsman. This has given me a unique perspective on how to deal with certain types of pressure , success, failure and remaining in the present moment to optimise our talents. During my late teenage years I became an ACCA qualified cricket coach and also took a NABBA fitness instructors course.

Percussion is also a passion and I have incorporated drumming into therapy in previous roles with young students.
Cycling to and from work is a daily routine essential to me in keeping fit and a time to process the days work.
I hope this informs you a little about my character.
